MusicFutures

Dr Mathew Flynn is project co-lead on the £6.75 million AHRC Creative Industries Cluster project MusicFutures. Beginning in February 2025 and running for five years, MusicFutures engages 21 national and regional music sector partners to deliver a range of research, development and intellectual property initiatives and skills and training programmes that will drive music sector growth and employment and establish the Liverpool City Region as a the UK’s hub for innovation in music.

A Humanities and Social Sciences cross-faculty collaboration, MusicFutures core delivery team includes project lead Professor Richard Koeck (Architecture), co-leads Dr Sabine Jacques (Law and Social Justice), Dr Jennifer Davies (Management School) and Dr Leona Vaughn (Politics), programme manager Kirsty Connell, with IPM alumnus Dr Richard Anderson as a post-doctoral research assistant and data and ethics lead. The cluster is a collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and will develop a more inclusive and sustainable regional music ecosystem where talent and entrepreneurialism can thrive.
